Information on the case from local sources, may or may not be correct : Mohamed-Ali was staying with his mother and his father, Hilal Hasan Ali Jaafar, in Oman in 2006. When Mohamed-Ali's mother wanted to return to their home in Toledo, Ohio on January 20, Hilal refused to leave or let her take their son, and she had to go home without him.
